Denim Première Vision Paris 11/2017

The Première Vision in Paris is one of the most inspiring fairs for me when it comes to fabrics and materials. This time, the management of denim PV chooses 'sustainability' as a topic. I think that’s great, because I’m particularly interested in this at the moment!

After some Sustainable Collections in recent years, in which I have already worked with organic cotton, recycled fibers and milk protein fibers that nourish the skin, I would also like to bring out a Sustainable Denim Collection.

This fair has now exceeded my expectations. Lately, a lot has happened in the denim area. Many manufacturers rely on new technologies in bleaching, which usually wastes a lot of water. A conventional jeans consumes about 80 liters of water! Not to mention the chemicals used.

The tenor of the fair was right: 'Things have to change in the denim segment'.

Many manufacturers already rely on the fascinating and resource-saving, relatively new development of laser technology. Here, the jeans are not bleached, but treated in a special procedure with a laser. This happens like a print within a few minutes for a pair of jeans. Water is not needed here and no chemistry - revolutionary! And absolutely sensible ;-)) just sustainable! Also, the result is impressive - I see no distinction to the artful bleaching & destroy process, which often ruined the hands of the workers. Keep it up !!!
